Everything is online.Shopping, groceries, cab, movie tickets, aeroplane inquiry, etc.Just a click away and all these things work online. So, “Why not Online Learning ?”
I know there are a lot of other questions but this is the metaphor and above of all online learning debates.
“How do I know if Online Learning is right for me?”
Now, this is something serious. Well, I think that is a very important point and will explain how and why toward the end of this piece or I can say you will automatically come to know. We should start from basic till now everyone heard off eLearning, Blended Learning, Online Learning, Digital Learning; gross, eh? Believe me, there are a lot of terms. They’re not all useful, and some of them make things vague only.
Let’s understand some terms succinctly.
e-Learning: This is learning in which the interaction between student and teacher is online. For us, this is generally a student taking a course from a teacher without going to a physical classroom with that teacher. They might be in the same building, but the learning and the communication are done online.
Online learning: Online learning encompasses both e-Learning and blended learning. I think of it as “using online tools for learning”. It doesn’t matter where you are on the face-to-face to e-Learning spectrum; online learning is the spectrum itself. The key element is the use of the Internet.
Digital Learning: This one’s my favourite. This is everything. Digital learning includes online learning and e-Learning. It also includes “offline digital learning”, like using local software and digital cameras. So here we get a rough idea of all those nomenclatures and What is online learning?
Besides these, there were many advantages of online learning(Huh, why not be).
Online learning has many advantages. For most students, they start with the flexibility it offers. With online programs, you can earn a degree on your own schedule and from your own location. Online learning also has proven as a way for time-saving in several ways. It is for sure that one probably skip a lecture for a baseball match(Go Patriots)
You can study for your degree while juggling other responsibilities, such as work and family, at the same time. Typically, you can set your own study schedule, and some online degree programs allow you to complete your degree at your own pace.(That’s what I like most about online learning).
Online students are encouraged to interact with one another and work in teams, similar to an in-person setting. You can communicate with other students through email and participation in virtual discussions in online forums. Many online universities also offer online collaboration platforms that allow students to work on projects together using audio and visual tools which are proving the nucleus of online learning. Some online students form study groups among themselves to further support one another and work together on coursework.
The length of an online degree depends on your program. One of the benefits of online learning is that you can customize your program to fit your schedule. To give you a general idea, most bachelor’s degrees will take about four years to complete.
You can also complete your online degree in less time by receiving college credits for your prior learning. And do not ever think of that, there were many portals and organization providing scholarship especially for online learning and for the specific course also. So this is also proven as an ease for financial strengthen whether tuition fees or semester charges.
You can rely on a bit and can relax also. Many universities offer prior online learning assessment programs that award academic credits for knowledge you’ve gained outside the classroom. These programs can save students a semester or more of course requirements. After reading these you may satisfy that, “It’s now possible for a professor to teach more students in an afternoon than was previously possible in a lifetime.” Thanks to online learning.
There were some disadvantages also and they go hand to hand.
No doubt in online learning there is no face to face interaction which matters some of you.
Most of the online learning assessments questions were limited and objective in nature which leads to confusion and doubt sometimes. There also some problem to the extent of security e.g., hacking, third party interference, malicious virus, spams emails and many others. The authenticity of particular students work in one of the major problems in online learning because the problem is as online just about anyone can do a project rather than the actual student itself. The assessment that is computer-based were more in knowledge-based and less in practice-based. Here you go, all set to hit keyboard but before doing remember two factors are important in your search for the right online university for online learning.
First, be sure that the school/university/institution is accredited.
Second, research the degree programs offered among online schools and potential career choices before you enrol.
By always keeping both this two point in your mind you can opt for best online learning service. Here some finest one were discussed:

This program is offered by Georgia Tech and includes 6 weeks of instruction, focused on the fundamentals of eLearning.

Virtual Teacher Program.

If you’re looking for a free online course that can help you integrate eLearning games into your eLearning development strategy, you may want to consider this one. So, now you can contemplate that someone is online for your studies and learning. As long your chosen institution is accredited, your online degree will be just as valuable as a degree from an on-campus school(Don’t worry about this)
The only thing constant in your life is change.
So, changing the study pattern is also seem imperative. Shifting from the traditional way of learning to online learning, eLearning or digital learning may be difficult at first but it will be worth of it.
More competition is just as beneficial in the world of higher education as it is in any other field. Online education from online learning, I believe, will be to learning what the airplane was to travel.
